ASU Actor Database

Procedures for Casting and Working with Actors

The ASU Actor Database was designed to give ASU filmmakers the opportunity to cast their films from both the ASU student community and the community-at-large, helping to create greater films with more diverse casts, while giving actors an opportunity to grow their own craft in a variety of filmmaking projects.

By using the ASU Actor Database, you agree to the following:

  1. Actors will not charge students for services, but student must provide a copy of the film in a digital format, proper credit and meals. Negotiating gas reimbursement is an acceptable request. If the actor is a member of SAG, students are required to have contracted with the union and have all proper agreements in place before shooting commences – including payment if that is part of the signed contract.
  2. Actors may ONLY work a maximum of TEN HOURS (subtracting meals) on-set and must be fed with craft services and at least one meal for every six hours worked. Actors YOUNGER THAN 18 can work a maximum of SIX HOURS a day (subtracting meals).
  3. Actors will have access to restroom facilities.
  4. Actors will have a minimum of TWELVE HOUR TURNAROUND in-between multiple filming dates.
  5. You MUST KNOW your FILMING DATES before you send offers to actors. Students will email offers – or requests for auditions for higher-profile senior "Capstone" film ONLY. Filmmakers will send a copy of the script. Filmmakers must send out EXCLUSIVE OFFERS FOR A SINGLE ROLE.
  6. You can only send out offer to actors with a minimum of FIVE lines, actors in the Database are NOT Background Extras.
  7. Actors agree to reply within FORTY-EIGHT HOURS and tell them if they will take the role or if they are unable to do the film student filmmakers can move on to another potential casting opportunity.
  8. Filmmakers will only call you if you provide them your phone number.
  9. Actor links are at the top of the page, with actors separate by gender and age. Each actor has a headshot, video and resume available for all filmmakers to review. Please remember to cast two weeks before shooting and that you can only email an actor with the script and an offer and can call after they are cast.

By using the ASU Actor Database, the student filmmaker acknowledges the above and by clicking the below, accepts the terms and conditions for casting. Good luck with your casting and if there are any issues, contact Professor LaMont at clamont@asu.edu.
