ASU Actor Database

Procedures for Actors

Welcome!

The ASU Actor Database was designed to give ASU filmmakers the opportunity to cast their films from both the ASU student community and the community-at-large, helping to create greater films with more diverse casts, while giving actors an opportunity to grow their own craft in a variety of filmmaking projects.

By submitting to the ASU Actor Database, you agree to the following:

  1. Actors will not charge students for services, but will receive copy, credit and meals. Negotiating gas reimbursement is an acceptable request. If the actor is a member of SAG, students are required to have contracted with the union and have all proper agreements in place before shooting commences – including payment if that is part of the signed contract
  2. Understanding that these are STUDENTS making these films, with a wide diversity of experience in knowledge. An enormous amount of patience is required in a learning environment, especially when an experienced actor is working with a student filmmaker.
  3. Actors may ONLY work a maximum of TEN HOURS (subtracting meals) on-set and must be fed with craft services and at least one meal for every six hours worked. Actors YOUNGER THAN 18 can work a maximum of SIX HOURS a day (subtracting meals).
  4. Actors will have access to restroom facilities.
  5. Actors will have a minimum of TWELVE HOUR TURNAROUND in-between multiple filming dates.
  6. Students will email you offers – or requests for auditions for higher-profile senior "Capstone" film. They will also send you a copy of the script. Even if the script isn’t to your liking, please reply within FORTY-EIGHT HOURS and tell them that you’re unable to do the film so they can move on to another potential casting opportunity
  7. If you accept a role, filmmakers will only call you if you provide them your phone number.
  8. At any time, you can have your listing removed from the database by emailing Professor Chris LaMont at clamont@asu.edu.
  9. ASU is not responsible for any issues on-set or off-set regarding its students and an actor’s participation in any student film project is entirely voluntary.

To upload your materials to the ASU Actor Database, you will need to have a single photo of yourself in JPEG, PNG or GIF format. You also will need to have at least one Video Clip on YouTube – either a filmed monologue with good sound and picture OR your demo reel.

I acknowledge the following and by clicking the below, wish to submit to the ASU Actor Database. Thank you for wanting to work with ASU Students!
